Meet Kaler Ryan Scott, the twenty-four-year-old newcomer on the scene at Pine Hollow. He originally hails from Houston, Texas, where the young man was born and raised. However, the biological mother that he was born to in that city was not the one that would raise him. Kaler was abandoned by that woman at the young age of four, and was then adopted by William and Bethany Scott just before his sixth birthday. Little did he know that we being taken into a whole new world, one full of privilege and focused around the equestrian lifestyle. Beth and Will were both from old money, and both avid equestrians. So, Kaler adapted to their way of living, learning how to ride rather quickly and finding that he actually enjoyed it. His childhood after all of this was fairly average, and he grew up the same way that a lot of Texan boys did, playing football and riding in the rodeo. Kaler was pretty good at both, too, helping his high school football team bring home a championship and earning quite a few buckles for himself at local, state, and regional rodeo competitions. Alongside all of this, Kaler was learning about training horses and teaching people from his mother and father, their primary discipline of interesting being that of reining and training reining horses. After graduating high school, Kaler gave up bull riding and his barrel and cutting horses to go into the family trade on the well-known Scott Ranch, and soon started to make a name for himself there. He was invited to small horse expos to teach clinics, and started to compete and make his name in the show front as well. Last year his career as a horseman was really exploding, Kaler getting more training horses than ever before and there was talk of him going to the Equine Affaire, one of the world’s largest horse gatherings in existence, as one of their trainers, but all of those plans were put on hold with Bethany became ill. She was always such a healthy woman, but cancer had a way of tearing the strength away from even the strongest of spirits and within months she was gone. Kaler’s whole world had changed, and so changed the course he took in life. He stepped down from his place on the Scott Ranch, telling Will that he needed time before he decided to move east and found Chaucer, Virginia. There Pine Hollow sat, and it seemed to be a good place. No one there knew much about him with it being a primarily English barn, but they were willing to take a bet on him and take him on as an instructor. Now here he is, settling in for a new chapter in his life while figuring out what to do about the rest of it.
So, now that you know the background, here’s what Mr. Scott is all about. He’s the kind of guy that seems to draw people to him like moths to a flame, women in particular. He is very much your typical bad boy with the rough around the edges feel to him. He knows how to cut you down with sarcasm, but is certainly not afraid to use his fists when his mouth gets him into trouble. He's a master at manipulation and conniving, able to make it seem as though his ideas were yours with minimal effort. Kaler is the kind of guy that likes to have a good time and drink, either having a night out with the guys or enjoying the company of a new woman. However, there is a much more mild side to the young man and that is most likely what the people of Pine Hollow will observe as Kaler will try to remain professional here. That’s not to say that you won’t catch a glimpse of his impressive temper, and there are moments when he will seem like a cruel, arrogant, self-important bastard but those moments will be few and far between if all goes well. There is a side of him that has a great sense of humor, and underneath it there really is a good guy with a good heart be found if you stick around long enough and worth through all his other bullshit to see it. Friends might be limited at first, as Kaler really knows no one here but he will need some. It will take a while to gain his trust, but once you have a friend in him, Kaler really is loyal to that friendship and would do anything for the people that he cares about. He has a protective nature, and he will look out for his own if you are lucky enough to be one of them. However, I do see enemies being very possible for him, as he runs his mouth without a filter and doesn’t care if he steps on some toes or hurts some feelings. He’s also the type that would get into trouble for flirting or hooking up with some other guy’s girl seeing as he does what he wants to when he wants with home he wants to do it with. Lovers is another pretty open field for him, even if he does have a final in place. But, it’s going to take a while to get there and Kaler is definitely up for some one night stands and causing the occasional scandal. So, let’s sex this guy up!
